0-60mph in 1.6 seconds, top speed over 300mph, and the ability to reach 200mph in the standing 1/4 mile. Bold claims from a company few have even heard about. On paper the numbers add up. 2000hp, 2000 lb-ft. of torque and a low curb weight of 2420 lbs. Can they pull it off? We'll find out soon enough.
TranStar will offer 3 variants in racing spec. The Dagger GT-R will be the road racing version designed to set new records at the Nurburgring and Virginia International Raceway. The Dagger GT-LS will be the land speed model with special 500mph rated tires for customers looking to top 300mph. Finally, the Dagger GT-D will be the drag racing model with Goodyear Pro Stock Slicks, hydraulic-launched double drag chutes, NHRA rollcage and a modified/changeable rear suspension that will enable 200 mph in the quarter mile.
For those looking to drive on the street, the GT-S model is a street legal version of the GT-R customized to customer specifications. For those looking for a bit of luxury, the GT-X model is available with a customizable interior and suspension settings ranging from "soft" to "race". TranStar doesn't give any numbers for the street versions but I'd be shocked if doesn't take a run at the Veyron's top speed record.
Pricing for the base model is set at $450,000 which is a bargain considering its performance. 5 units will be produced for 2011 with 10 more scheduled for 2012.

300 mph, a big challenge for bugatti and the upcoming mclaren f1 successor.

Let’s see if they can pull it off first. There have been a lot of cars claiming insane numbers that you never hear about again because they couldn’t make it reliable enough to sell.

The back of this car reminds me of the pagani zonda. The design of the car may not be good for drifting. It may have bad handling.

this cars aren’t design for drifting….this cars are made to beat lap time record. drifting is for show, car handling capabilities and drifting are two different things. handling a car while its drifting is also different. cars that enter drifting competition are designed for drifting…..you’ve never seen a veyron enter D1 before, have you???? =)

This thing will have the lead in top-speed for 2-5 years, then everybody is going to pounce, all with insane numbers.

I’m not sure it will ever officially have the title since the street version will not be able to reach the claimed top speed of 300+mph. It’s a little strange that they don’t mention anything about the numbers for the street version.

Check the Official Site, it has the street version #’s there.

Wonder what the reactions of the other brands would be.

There might be a trick that they are doing. 300mph, 200mph in a quarter mile, 0-60 in 1.6 seconds are all not capable in one model. Each model only does one of these three special things.

No matter what happens, I just want to see a 200+ mph race between the street version of this, the SSC ultimate aero TT, Bugatti SS, and whatever anyone else can pull out until the street version of this car is legally appointed to.

What would be even cooler is to see them at near top speed.

I want to see cars that go over 230, mostly the italian cars. All those cars in race would definitely attract people who want to see the upcoming fastest cars.

It is too big to be a drifter, but imagine when they make a coupe, will add at least 20 mph to the top speed.

They already made a coupe version of this car, check the website.

Definitely, the coupe should have more speed. The car would flip out easily if anyone tried to drift with it.

As I said, it is too large to drift, and the other brands’ reactions will be something like ;0

As I also said, you should not use it as a drifting car. the other brands would definitely have some weird thoughts about this car.

Yeah, as I also said, nobody should try drifting with it.

I’m not going to lie, I think TranStar is blowing smoke. The Veyron is electronically limited to its top speed because if it went much faster its tires would blow out. Car’s are limited to the speeds they are because of tire technology not because of how fast you can make the car. With street legal tires there is no way the Dagger GT is going to hit 300 MPH, racing slicks sure, but not street tires. I also don’t think that Bugatti is even going to blink an eye at this car.

Yeah, 300mph is so much, despite that Bugatti is getting close to that range.

Exactly, if you drive a Bugatti for around 10 minutes, going at its top speed, the tires would literally just die.

Well, just speaking out of the box, where would you be able to drive it at top speed for 10 minutes?

I was just saying logically, if there was a really long straight track ever made, that situation would happen.

Well, guess it probably would, but although that its all wheel drive, then the power would be distributed evenly so it has less of a chance.

Definitely no on public roads that’s for sure. Has anyone seen any pics of the Dagger GT that aren’t computer generated yet? I’m skeptical because they haven’t shown anything tangible yet. The claimed figures for the car out outrageous too, especially for a roadster. Maybe I’m being too much of a skeptic but the Dagger GT seems pretty gimmicky to me.

I have not seen any pictures lately. I agree, I have not seen anything about this car yet. No real life pics.

I haven’t seen any real pics yet, and I do agree, it doesn’t look real for a convert., but if the real convert. figuires are somewhat less thatn that, and the coupe’s figs are the ones we are seeing, will be fine with it. Plus, you don’t know how much it will cost to build one, so maybe it will be so outrageous that not a lot of people will buy it.

Yeah, who would be able to acheive the top speed without a place or track to race it on.
