2012 Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4 Officially Revealed

After multiple leaked images and camouflage shots, we can finally see the Aventador in all its glory and from every angle. After initially being disappointed that it looked too similar to the Reventon, I have to say I'm very impressed overall and I think they got the look just right, especially the interior.

What was never up for debate was the performance with the all new 6.5 liter V12 putting out 690hp @8250rpm and 509 lb-ft. of torque @5500rpm. 0-62mph comes at a blazing 2.9 seconds and top speed is 217mph. Besides the power increase, these numbers are a result of advanced lightweight technology, most noticeably the full monocoque cell. The entire occupant cell, with tub and roof, is one single physical component. This ensures extreme rigidity and thus outstanding driving precision, as well as an extremely high level of passive safety for the driver and his passenger. The engine is also 40 lbs. lighter than the Murcielagos. All in all, the Aventador comes in at 200 pounds less than the Murcielago at 3,472 lbs.

The driver of the Aventador LP 700-4 can depend fully on its permanent all-wheel drive - indicated by the 4 in the model designation. In the driveline, an electronically controlled Haldex coupling distributes the forces between front and rear. In a matter of milliseconds, this coupling adapts the force distribution to match the dynamic situation. A self-blocking rear differential together with a front differential electronically controlled by ESP make for even more dynamic handling. The Drive Select Mode System enables the driver to choose vehicle characteristics (engine, transmission, differential, steering and dynamic control) from three settings - Strada (road), Sport and Corsa (track) - to suit individual preferences."

Base price is expected to be around $370,000 when it goes on sale in October 2011.

2011 Porsche 911 Speedster

This special edition 911 will be limited to only 356 examples, a number that pays homage to the original 356 speedster. The Speedster quickly became synonymous with low-slung, open-top, two-seater Porsche sports cars that attracted free-spirited driving enthusiasts seeking the ultimate 'wind in the hair' experience.

The most noticeable difference is the 60mm lowered and raked windscreen and the characteristic 'double-bubble' hardcover for the manual soft top. It features the same 3.8 liter Inline-6 from the 911 Carrera S but tuned to produce an extra 23hp without sacrificing fuel efficiency.

The 911 Speedster features as standard a seven-speed Porsche Doppelkupplungsgetriebe (PDK) gearbox which transmits power via a limited slip differential to the rear axle, which lends further finesse to the chassis dynamics. Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) and Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes (PCCB) are also standard. Added to this is exemplary protection for the driver and passenger, with the safety roll-over protection system, which is standard in all open-top Porsche cars, being specifically tailored for the unique Speedster design.

The Speedster will be available in either "Pure Blue" or "Carrera White" when it goes on sale in January 2011 at a base price of $225,000.

2011 Nissan GT-R Pictures and Specifications

The 2011 GT-R's main changes include improving ride comfort, enhancing the navigation system features and adding auto on/off headlights. When auto on/off headlights are listed as the top 3 improvements, you know not much as changed. Nevertheless, Nissan has provided some great new pictures for our viewing enjoyment. And really, what else could they really have improved on?

Enhancements for 2011 include slightly darker wheel center caps, double clear coat on the front and rear fascias and the addition of rear cooling ducts to improve cooling performance around the rear floor area. The suspension has been retuned and the rear bushing strengthened to enhance ride comfort while still maintaining the GT-R’s outstanding handling. In addition, auto on/off headlights and speed-sensitive windshield wipers are now standard, along with a USB iPod® interface, Streaming Audio via Bluetooth® and DVD playback. The navigation system now includes XM NavTraffic® and NavWeather™ capability, along with premium points-of-interest (POI) information.

2011 Porsche 911 GT2-RS

The 2008 911 GT2 was already a beast but for 2011, Porsche was able to add 90 more horses and substract 154 pounds resulting a power to weight ratio of 4.9 lbs per horsepower. It is also more efficient as fuel consumption and CO2 emission are down roughly 5%. As with the previous GT2, it is only available with a 6 speed manual channeling power to the rear wheels. I think I'm in love.

Porsche claims a time of 7:18 on the Nürburgring-Nordschleife which bests the Dodge Viper ACR, Pagani Zonda F, Ferrari Enzo, Porsche Carrera GT and well just about everything. 0-60mph comes in 3.4 seconds and acceleration continues all the way up to 205mph.

Only 500 will be made at a base price of $245,000 USD.

Ferrari 599 GTO Pictures and Specifications

Based on the track-only 599XX, The 599 GTO replaces the Enzo as Ferrari's fastest road car with a record lap time of 1’24” at Ferrari's own Fiorano test track.

The 599 GTO is powered by a 671hp V12 with a maximum torque of 457 lb-ft @ 6500 rpm. 0-60mph comes in 3.2 seconds and acceleration continues all the way up to 208mph.

Fundamental to the GTO’s performance is the innovative approach to chassis development which, for the first time on a production car, saw the integration between a handling set-up tuned for a level of responsiveness that is close to the limit and highly sophisticated electronic controls. The result is the almost complete absence of understeer and a truly communicative chassis.

As is Ferrari’s policy, every new Ferrari features new solutions for a road car. Thus the 599 GTO is equipped with the latest, second-generation carbon-ceramic brakes which are lighter and offer better performance, new aerodynamic innovations, such as the wheel doughnuts which increase aerodynamic efficiency as well as improve brake cooling, and the Supersport tyres developed by Michelin include a wider front tyre for greater roadholding. The driver-car interface is also new with the adoption of the Virtual Race Engineer (VRE) which provides the driver with instantaneous information on performance.

2011 Subaru WRX STI

The wing is back! Love it or hate it, the STI just wasn't the same without one. And like its predecessors, it's also functional. Other improvements include stiffer bushings, stiffer springs, lighter wheels and thicker anti-roll bars. The sedan is also slightly lighter than the hatch so performance numbers might be a tad quicker even though power is unchanged (305hp, 290 lb-ft of torque).

It was the first car to offer an F1 style semi-automatic transmission that is used to in many modern high end sports cars today. The Mclaren F1 once held the title of fastest production car in the world with a top speed of 240MPH until it was broken by the Koenigsegg CCR. It's 3.1 second 0-60MPH time and 11.6 second 1/4 mile should be fast enough for anyone. The Mclaren F1 GTR won leMans in 1995 and Mclaren produced a series of 5 F1 LMs to commemerate the 5 GTRs that raced that year placing 1,3,4,5, and 13. Horsepower for the LM was upped to 680 HP and was capable of doing 0-100-0 in 828.4 feet in only 11.5 seconds! Thats about an averaged size residential block.

2008 Subaru WRX STI Pictures and Specifications

The 2008 STI get a major redesign and is barely recognizable when compared to the previous generations. The revised engine now makes 305hp (SAE) a gain of 12 over the previous generation thanks to its Dual Active Valve Control System. Peak torque is the same at 290 but is available at 400rpms earlier.

The DCCD system now offers three selectable automatic performance modes in addition to the six manual differential-locking settings. For the first time, the DCCD AWD system integrates the Vehicle Dynamics Control (VDC) stability and traction control system, also with three driver-selectable positions.
