2011 Subaru WRX STI

The wing is back! Love it or hate it, the STI just wasn't the same without one. And like its predecessors, it's also functional. Other improvements include stiffer bushings, stiffer springs, lighter wheels and thicker anti-roll bars. The sedan is also slightly lighter than the hatch so performance numbers might be a tad quicker even though power is unchanged (305hp, 290 lb-ft of torque).

  1. I love the spoiler, it goes great with the rest of the car’s body.

  2. This doesn’t look new, it just looks like it has been visually tuned, but I still like it.

    • I’m a big fan of the wheels. Also love the Plasma Blue Pearl color option. I saw it in person at the 2010 NY Auto Show and it looked great.

      • I love the color too, on any sports car. It is much more attractive than the other colors. Oh, Chris, I have accepted your friend request! Your are my first friend!

        • This color does look good on the car, I would kill to see a royal blue on a Rolls though. (RR would probably steal the paint color and just make it a little darker.

          • Agreed this color would look great on a rolls

          • Chris, where you live, do you see a lot of Rolls and Bentleys?

Like or Dislike: Thumb up 0 Thumb down 0

          • When I lived in Manhattan, I used to see Rolls and Bentleys every day. They were like Toyotas, one on every block. I’m not even exaggerating. Used to see a bunch of Ferraris and Lambos also in the summer.

      • The wheels go great on any wrx sti, it is a must.

      • I could just see the color glimmering under spotlights, must of been beautiful.

        • Yeah, the paint looks nice.

          • I could not even imagine how long it took them to come up with that great color, and keep re-mixing it to get it the perfect tone.

Like or Dislike: Thumb up 0 Thumb down 0

        • They should put colors like this on their other cars.

Like or Dislike: Thumb up 0 Thumb down 0

          • Would probably get them more sales.

Like or Dislike: Thumb up 0 Thumb down 0

        • Definitely, it would be very essential.

    • Cannot wait for the redesign later on, wonder what it would look like.

      • Redisgn for the car, the wheels, what?

Like or Dislike: Thumb up 0 Thumb down 0

        • I was not talking about the wheels, just a redesign much later in the years.

          • Oh, the STi will go many places in years, had a great starter, and is know the tuner 4-door to beat, around the world, move over CTS-V, the STi is coming.

Like or Dislike: Thumb up 0 Thumb down 0

        • If you compare this to its mitsubishi rival, subaru will definitely be more favored

Like or Dislike: Thumb up 0 Thumb down 0

          • In style, speed, and probably interior quality too, the only thing is that the Evo has the top-of-the-line racing Recaro’s, but the STi will soon have them too.

Like or Dislike: Thumb up 0 Thumb down 0

        • The evo has lost to the wrx sti in a lot of magazine comparisons, it is too slow.

  3. A first for me, but I am actually liking the sedan better than the hatchback. Sedan just looks more tuner, hatchback seems suttle………..er. No matter what though, I am looking forward to hearing both of them.

  4. The hatchback and the sedan are both really good. They both have a great sense of tuning and speed. The bumpers also look really nice.

Like or Dislike: Thumb up 0 Thumb down 0

  5. The bumpers really set it apart from it’s older part, with the “air intakes” molded in the bumpers.

  6. The racing tires look nice. The radio is okay, the shape of it is like a box

  7. Every WRX STi needs a set of Pirelli’s.

Like or Dislike: Thumb up 0 Thumb down 0

  8. The wheels on the sti are always great, especially with the rear wing and bumper kit.

Like or Dislike: Thumb up 0 Thumb down 0

    • Nice to have custom wheels to start with, but as long as you give me the wing, I am fine.

Like or Dislike: Thumb up 0 Thumb down 0

  9. The wing is the most necessary. The height of it is just perfect.

Like or Dislike: Thumb up 0 Thumb down 0

  10. I agree, if Subaru ever gives me an STi without a wing, I will have to sue them for unsportsman-like creation of cars, disappointing their consumers.

Like or Dislike: Thumb up 0 Thumb down 0

  11. If there is not a wing on this car, this would just be a regular subaru wrx.

Like or Dislike: Thumb up 0 Thumb down 0

  12. Exactly, if you pay the $$$ for the STi, you want the speed, and the style with the wing, or else the STi will go under in sales.

Like or Dislike: Thumb up 0 Thumb down 0

    • The sti includes all the extra good stuff, so it is worth the money

Like or Dislike: Thumb up 0 Thumb down 0

  13. I would even pay 20k over the price to get this and not the Evo.

Like or Dislike: Thumb up 0 Thumb down 0

  14. The Evo is too heavy, and needs more power, they need to start with lightening it up though, it may seem light on it’s feet, but it really isn’t.

    • I would rather have an evo sedan than its wagon if I couldn’t get a wrx. Can you drive?

Like or Dislike: Thumb up 0 Thumb down 0

      • Yes.

Like or Dislike: Thumb up 0 Thumb down 0

        • Oh that is cool.

Like or Dislike: Thumb up 0 Thumb down 0

          • It is extra fun with a six-speed manual, but with all of the new cars, I guess I could settle with pattle shifters.

Like or Dislike: Thumb up 0 Thumb down 0

          • You can obviously drive faster like that, cool.

Like or Dislike: Thumb up 0 Thumb down 0

  15. The evo wagon looks like a regular station wagon, no style or sense of speed.

Like or Dislike: Thumb up 0 Thumb down 0

  16. I think the only good, and fast station wagon made was the Benz E63 wagon, it could take down an R8 V8 in the quarter-mile.

Like or Dislike: Thumb up 0 Thumb down 0

  17. True, a wagon with 8 cylinders. It is an amg.

Like or Dislike: Thumb up 0 Thumb down 0

  18. 8 cylinder, 510 hp, sounds ok in s wagon, I would own it as a grocery getter.

Like or Dislike: Thumb up 0 Thumb down 0

  19. Then you can take a lot of cargo and take it to other places quickly.

Like or Dislike: Thumb up 0 Thumb down 0

  20. Take anything without being cramped, that’s the advantages to super-wagons, I am glad people came up with them.

Like or Dislike: Thumb up 0 Thumb down 0

  21. Plus wagons that go as fast as sports sedans.

Like or Dislike: Thumb up 0 Thumb down 0

  22. More like as fast as super-cars, chech you-tube for the R8, E63 AMG Wagon drag-race.

Like or Dislike: Thumb up 0 Thumb down 0

  23. oh yeah, you said it was fast as the r8.

Like or Dislike: Thumb up 0 Thumb down 0

  24. Sounded much better, with the throughty exhaust tone, but even though I could get whooped by a station-wagon, I would still take the R8.

Like or Dislike: Thumb up 0 Thumb down 0

  25. The r8 looks so stunning, no one would notice the speed of your wagon, because its a wagon!

Like or Dislike: Thumb up 0 Thumb down 0

  26. No one will know thee speed of the wagon as long as you don’t have to red-light race a cocky teenager in a little pimped-out VW.

Like or Dislike: Thumb up 0 Thumb down 0

  27. Ok. well that is kinda true

  30. I’m sure you guys are going to hate me for this comment but I can’t stand the new body style of the STI, really the Impreza in general. In my eyes the previous generation is much better looking and so in the current EVO. I’ve always loved the WRX but the current design just doesn’t stir my emotions as others have, 2007 has been my favorite year, especially the ESX tuned by Easy Street Performance.

Like or Dislike: Thumb up 0 Thumb down 0

    • It’s all right Matthew, you have the freedom to put your opinion.

Like or Dislike: Thumb up 0 Thumb down 0

    • I’m not a big fan of the current generation Impreza either. That’s why I went with a 2006 when I bought one this year. Less money for a better looking design IMO. Though the interior on the new ones is way ahead of the previous generations.

    • You can like what you want, and we can like what we want, it’s no big deal.

Like or Dislike: Thumb up 0 Thumb down 0

      • That is why we comment about it, so we can put opinions on why or why not we like it.

        • That’s the whole point of blogging.

  31. I also think the current hatch back is much better looking than the sedan.

Like or Dislike: Thumb up 0 Thumb down 0

    • I’m not a fan of the hatch but I see the appeal for utility purposes. I’m glad they offer the option for both now.

Like or Dislike: Thumb up 0 Thumb down 0

  32. The mitsubishi evo hatch has more utility purpose, but it is too slow.

Like or Dislike: Thumb up 0 Thumb down 0

    • They actually don’t have an evo hatch; it’s just a Lancer Sportback. Mitsubishi doesn’t make anything comparable to the STI 5-door; all of the Evo’s are sedans. Chris, good choice withe 2006, I definitely like the style of that one better but I agree, the interiors on the newer models are nicer. I think that is the trend in general with most cars, sometimes the exterior styling missed the mark but interior design usually improves.

Like or Dislike: Thumb up 0 Thumb down 0

      • Mitsubishi is losing it’s good designs……. WHY???

Like or Dislike: Thumb up 0 Thumb down 0

        • I hope Mitsubishi realizes this and does something about it.

Like or Dislike: Thumb up 0 Thumb down 0

          • And I hope they realize that soon.

Like or Dislike: Thumb up 0 Thumb down 0

        • Really soon, before something happens.

Like or Dislike: Thumb up 0 Thumb down 0

          • Maybe Nissan will make a move since Mitsubishi is struggling.

Like or Dislike: Thumb up 0 Thumb down 0

          • Not only Nissan, but other tuner brands probably.

  34. Sportback is a nothing, an ugly nothing.

Like or Dislike: Thumb up 0 Thumb down 0

  35. As I said, it is too slow. It also looks ugly.

Like or Dislike: Thumb up 0 Thumb down 0

  36. I think Nissan will be the first one to make a move, but I am sure others will jump.

Like or Dislike: Thumb up 0 Thumb down 0

  37. Yeah, everyone will be competing by then.
