2011 Mclaren MP4-12C Pictures and Specifications

The Mclaren F1 is my favorite car of all time so I've been looking forward to Mclaren's next road going car for a long time. The F1 was intended to be the best performing road car in the world and succeed it did setting the top speed record at 240mph. The MP4-12C is intended to bring that "ultra-car" performance into the "super-car" range.

At a base price of only $265,000 (compared to the F1's $1 million dollar price tag), it is priced similarly to the Ferrari 458 Italia and Lamborghini Gallardo. It will feature twin-turbo V8 producing 600hp and 443 lbs. of torque.

0-60mph will reportely come in under 3 seconds using the MP4-12C's launch control and 0-124mph will come in under 10 seconds.

With an expected production run of 1000 a year, there will be 10x as many MP4-12Cs produced in a year than the entire production run of the F1(106). Which means you may actually get to see one of these things on the road.

Fear not for those still hoping for true a succesor to the F1, Mclaren is rumored to be working on an even more high-performance version. Also Gordon Murray, designer of the Mclaren F1, is also planning on creating one last supercar that could also serve as a succesor though he has left Mclaren to create Gordon Murray Design studio.
