One of the top supercars of the
1980's. Unfortunately it is not legal in the States as Porsche did not
provide 4 for crash testing. 30 U.S. spec 959's were originally
intended to be sold but they were impounded by DOT and the EPA. A few
made it across the shore, however, even though they are still technically
illegal. You can understand why these few people went through so much
trouble to sneak them here as they're powered by a 450 HP engine producing a
0-60 of 3.6 seconds and top speed almost reaching 200 MPH. The 959
also demonstrated the advantages of 4WD while most other supercars of the
time, including the Ferrari F40 and Jaguar XJ220, remained 2WD.
